A beloved traditional tomato, 'Alicante' is recognised for its typical, medium-sized red fruits with a flavour that is well balanced. This dependable cultivar produces a bountiful harvest of tomatoes that are ideal for salads, sandwiches, and sauces, making it a staple for allotments, gro-bags, greenhouses and gardens. Gardeners of all skill levels will find 'Alicante' to be easy to grow, thanks to high resistance to common tomato diseases.

Add some basil or marigolds close to your 'Alicante' plants to help ward off pests and improve the flavour and health of the tomatoes. To keep the fruit from splitting, plant it in a sunny spot in rich, well-drained soil, and be sure to water frequently, especially during dry spells.
