Clematis 'Margaret Hunt'

Clematis ‘Margaret Hunt’ is a refined, large-flowered climber admired for its soft, romantic colouring and reliable performance in the garden. From early to mid-summer, it produces an abundance of elegant, star-shaped flowers in delicate lavender-pink tones, each petal gently veined and centred with contrasting creamy stamens that add depth and interest. Wonderful for the back of a border.

For best results, grow ‘Margaret Hunt’ in sun or light shade, keeping its roots cool and moist; mulching or planting low-growing companions around the base is ideal. It benefits from a hard prune in late winter or early spring (Group 3), cutting stems back to strong buds to encourage vigorous new growth and abundant flowering. This clematis pairs beautifully with climbing roses in soft pinks or whites, evergreen shrubs such as Pittosporum or Choisya for year-round structure, and perennials like Nepeta, which complement its gentle colouring while helping shade the roots.
