Wisteria floribunda Rosea - (Honbeni) Pink Japanese Wisteria

Wisteria floribunda 'Rosea' (Honbeni) is a breathtaking Japanese wisteria that, in the springtime, leafs out and flowers with large, fragrant clusters of blush-pink flowers. The long flower racemes can reach up to 45cm in length, creating a graceful waterfall of colour before the foliage fully emerges. After flowering, very attractive, velvety pods are produced that contain seeds. The winter aspect is a snarled, tangled mass of naked vine. Wisteria is usually very long-lived, and trunks can become quite large. Vines are woody and rough.

This hardy, woody climber is perfect for training over pergolas, arches, walls, fences or large trellises. The branches of this plant twist around their support, and once established, it is highly resistant to most pests and diseases. Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and abundant flowering; prune twice yearly to maintain shape and maximise blooms. In any case, it makes a perfect plant for the most modern to the most traditional of gardens.
